One December afternoon, we caught up with Brian Wilson,
the captain of BGB, to ask him a few questions. Here are his answers:
Q. What is your gun of choice?
A. I have to pick a free flow autococker, because they're highly
reliable, and they look incredibly awesome. I also like to support
professional paintball.
Q. What is most exciting about tournament
speedball?
A. The adrenaline of close combat such as when you're face to
face with an opponent on the other side of a bunker. Being a flag
man is the most adrenaline pumping thing you can do, because your
so damn close...
Q. Being a team captain yourself, what
advice can you give new captains just starting out?
A. Try to bond with all the players in a personal way, so they
respect you. This way you can easily tell the players where to
be for the next match, and what positions to play. Don't be forceful.
Q. What do you enjoy most about the
game of paintball?
A. The moment when you get someone out, you realize you've just
used your personal skills, along with your mental abilities to
hit that person with a paintball. Bunkering someone has to come
in a close second.
Q. What is the key aspect of keeping
a team together?
A. After each match, talk about your strengths of the game, but
also your weaknesses, so you don't get cocky, saying they did
this and shot so many players. This way players won't get discouraged
and they'll feel that they are worthwhile to the team.
Q. What are you most excited for in
the upcoming season?
A. The wins of course. I feel we'll be able to rack in at least
three...
Q. Finally, If you had to choose a team/players
to accompany BGB in a 10 man tournament, what individuals, or
team, would you pick?
A. The members of LOCKOUT [professional paintball]. They are
some of the top players in the nation, and all around nice guys.
